Eis aqui uma banda que eu guardo para postar a pelo menos uns 5 anos. Um som que nem lembro como conheci (faz uns 10 anos) mas que provavelmente foi pelas alamedas escuras da internet. Escuras não. Escuro não é de fato um termo para definir esse som. Trees é uma banda de um homem só, e este homem é o compositor Dane Conover. De San Diego na Califórnia, emergiu o Sleep Convention como um disco de new wave clássico, um new wave de qualidade, que teve ótimas críticas na época do lançamento mas se revelou uma tragédia para as vendas. Tragédia essa que não se é compreensível ao ouvir Shock Of The New ou Delta Sleep ou ainda 11:00 AM, canções que definitivamente me impedem de ficar parado. Aliás, este disco tem esta característica especial do new wave, que é um convite a pista de dança. Suas músicas são de arranjos simples e envolventes. A mente de Dane tinha algo muito maior para revelar ao mundo através da Trees. Recentemente no ano de 2018, este disco foi relançado em CD pela Rubellan Remasters com 12 faixas inéditas, sendo duas versões alternativas para Come Back e 11:00 AM e as demais produto de um suposto disco que nunca foi lançado.
Numa busca rápida pela internet, pode-se ver algumas palavras com unanimidade: pessoas dizendo que este é um dos melhores discos de new wave. Este é, de fato, um disco bastante subestimado na história do new wave dos anos 80 mas essa opinião eu deixo a vocês. Enjoy!

Dark is not a word to describe this sound. Trees is a one-man-band, and this man is the composer Dane Conover. From San Diego - CA, emerged Sleep Convention as a classical new wave album, a quality new wave. This album had great reviews when came out but was a tragedy to the market. Tragedy that we can’t understand while we listen to Shock of The New or Delta Sleep… or even 11:00 AM, songs that definitely make me dance. By the way, this album have this special characteristic of the new wave, that’s a invite to the dance floor. Their songs have simple and engaging arrangements. Dane’s mind had something big and very special to offer the world by Trees. Recently in 2018, this album was re-released in CD by the Rubellan Remaster with 12 unreleased tracks, two alternative versions to Come Back and 11:00 AM and the others was a product of a supposed record that was never released.
In a fast looking on the internet, we can read some words unanimity: people telling that’s one of the best new wave records. This is, indeed, a underrated album in the 80s new wave history but I leave this opinion to you. Enjoy!
