Descobri a Cold Comfort junto a Crystal Night já postada aqui. Este som de hoje vem da cidade de Rivne, na Ucrânia, e trata-se de um post-punk minimalista de extrema qualidade, com guitarras simples e angustiantes (aquelas distorções a la Joy Division) e um baixo, como costumo falar: seco. Marcante. Sem muitos efeitos. Apenas as notas sendo executadas com maestria na pegada post-punk. Falando em baixo marcante, devo destacar aqui a faixa título homônima deste segundo EP da banda, que representa bem as palavras ditas anteriormente. Here And Now e Bleached Bones são canções agitadas, que desperta a euforia e exaltação de não querer manter-se parado. To The Vacant Shores é de um clima mais darkwave onde podemos ver bem a descrição de guitarras simples e angustiantes.
A banda lançou ainda, anteriormente a este, um outro EP em cassete intitulado Modern Crypts em 2013, nem de longe menosprezado em relação a esse, com um som mais sujo que me remete ao deathrock de LA. Sem mais, apreciem mais este som.

The band released a cass EP titled Modern Crypts in 2013, that it’s not even understimated in relation to this, with a heavy sound that makes me remember the LA deathrock bands. No more words, enjoy this sound.

francês, Novo Fenômeno. E, na minha humilde opinião, não deveria ser outro o nome
deste verdadeiro fenômeno, algo raro e surpreendente, e justo por isso que esta
banda me chamou tanto a atenção. Essa banda sintetiza literalmente o que há de
melhor nos 80s. Digo, o que há de melhor no minimal, coldwave, synthpop... Nos
primeiros momentos deste disco que vos trago hoje, já percebemos a pesada influência
do minimal nas canções. A voz doce e sexy das meninas Angela e Fanni S. que embebedam seus
ouvidos cantando canções sobre luxúria, romances perdidos, mágoas, etc., junto as
notas dos sintetizadores de Zsolt Dziba que lhe fazem sentir falta dos dias em que nem viveu. Au Fond De Mon
Coeur e Secret abrem o disco com estas características acima. Cruel Game foi a
primeira canção da banda que ouvi. Amor a primeira 'escuta'. Nela ouvimos algo
que nos remete ao coldwave, com aquela batida que faz o corpo não querer ficar
parado. Glory of Romance é uma das grandes do disco, não poderia ser diferente para
carregar o nome do álbum. Como Cruel Game, essa canção carrega a veia do coldwave.
Aliás, em todo o lado B deste disco está bem audível toda a influência, do
synthpop ao coldwave, dos 80s. Caresse e Stay With Me são canções que permanecem
tocando em sua mente mesmo depois de já terem terminado. Caresse já está na minha
pasta de discotecagem desde a primeira audição. Stay With Me é uma música que me faz se sentir feliz por estar vivo. Lhe manda direto para os tempos áureos dos anos 80, quando explodiam as bandas
de maiores nomes do Synthpop da década nas discotecas em todas as partes do

Phénomène, of french, New Phenomenon. In my humble opinion there’s no name for describe
better this phenomenon, something rare and amazing, and this is why this band
called me so much attention. This band synthesizes the best of the 80s. I said,
the best in the minimal, coldwave, synthpop... The first moments of this album,
we can see the influence of the minimal in the songs. The sweet and sexy voice
of the girls Angela and Fanni S. that drunk your ears singing songs about lust, lost
romances, heartaches… Together with the synthesizers notes of Zsolt Dziba that
make you miss the days you never lived. Au Fond De Mon Coeur and Secret open
the disc with this last characteristics. Cruel Game was the first one I’ve
heard. Love at first listen. We can hear something that bring us to the
coldwave, with the beat that makes the body don’t stay quiet. Glory of Romance
is one of the greatest songs from album and couldn’t be in other way to give
the album’s name. Like Cruel Game, this song have an amazing coldwave sound. Moreover,
in all the B of this album is very audible all influence, from the synthpop to
coldwave from 80s. Caresse and Stay With Me are songs that stay in your mind
even after have finished. Caresse is already in my DJing folder. Stay With Me is
a song that makes me feel happy to being alive. A song that sends you straight to the heydays of the 80s, when the biggest synthpop
bands are in constantly play in the discoteques around the world. There’s a

Acho que o vocal me era estranho. Há alguns anos atrás esse som não me parecia
tão bom aos ouvidos... Não como hoje. Não demorou muito até me afeiçoar a

a batida rapidamente me contagiou. Independentemente de qualquer outra coisa,
eu precisava escutar mais músicas daquela banda.

had of this band isn’t so good. I think the voices were strange. A few years
ago this sound is not so good to my ears… Not as nowadays. It didn’t take long
for me and I get attached myself to their music. When I heardInside Out, the beat rapidly
infected me. Regardless of anything else, I needed to listen more songs of that
band.
So I knew theHot Paradox. Asynthpopmixed withcoldwaveandminimalelements. A programmed drums;
sometimes simple, sometimes complex; with some loops. Keyboards and
synthesizers with the most various effects and forms filling the songs. Vocals

clarinet and sax complete the effects line up. And the icing on the cake: aFrenchband from Marseilles.
This album have one of
the most exotic front covers I've ever seen. He Saw The Lightwas the first addiction, ‘cause that
beat will make you not stand still. The same toFull Moons And Mouths. The 80s
fans and those who like of coldwave, synthpop and minimal sounds will really

Esta é uma banda daquelas que você quer que todos conheçam. O que temos aqui é um synthpop/new wave de qualidade, mesclado com o minimal wave e o coldwave, sem deixar nada a desejar em relação a qualquer outra banda synthpop ou new wave que você conheça, ou até mesmo as coldwave da França. Um elemento que quero destacar aqui é, sem dúvidas alguma, o uso do sax alto; digo, o ÓTIMO uso do sax em todas as músicas! Acho que nenhum outro instrumento teria se encaixado tão bem com a sonoridade da Intelligence Dept.. Outro fator que diferencio aqui é o também ótimo uso do contra baixo que é muito bem trabalhado junto as notas dos sintetizadores, que ao contrário de algumas bandas usam os sintetizadores para sonorizar o mesmo, e da bela voz. Esqueci de mencionar a origem desta banda, da cidade de Ferrara na Itália, que também presenteia/presenteou ótimos sons para o mundo (The Frozen Autumn, Chromagain, Weimar Gesang).
Esse disco foi mais uma parceria entre a Annalogue Records e a Mannequin Records que já estiveram presentes com a Chromagain no Any Colour We Liked. Foi reunido os dois cassetes lançados pela banda em '84 e '85, Sleeping City e The Big Trouble respectivamente, junto a 4 faixas gravadas ao vivo na Arena Nuovo na sua terra natal em '85, entre elas duas totalmente desconhecidas : Nice Faces e Black Widow.
Destaco aqui Sleeping City que desde o início já se nota o belo uso do sax alto, a bela voz da Sussana Zaghi. Too Late To Love é perfeita do início ao fim, música simples porém marcante. Sister Europe é uma versão cover fodástica do The Psychedelic Furs, trocaram as guitarras pelos sintetizadores, deram uma nova cara ao baixo e resultou nesta bela versão. Nas canções do segundo cassete podemos perceber uma certa diferença na sonoridade, algo mais new wave menos minimal, porém também não se deixa nada a desejar. Não há nenhuma para se destacar, todas são dignas de serem repetidas diversas vezes em sua mente. Sleeping City, Too Late To Love e Anger Inside apareceram na compilação de '84 chamada "A White Chance"; Loneliness apareceu na compilação "Danza Meccanica - Italian Synth Wave 1982-1987". A banda ainda está em atividades nos dias de hoje. Deliciem este som perdido dos 80s.

>>> This is one of those bands you want that everyone know about your existence. What we have just here is a quality synthpop/new wave, mixed with elements of minimal wave and coldwave, leaving nothing to be desired in relation with any other synthpop or new wave band you know, or yet the coldwaves from France. An element that I want to call attention here is, undoubtedly, the use of alto sax; I said, the GREAT use of alto sax in all songs! I think any other instruments would have fit so well with the Intelligence Dept. sonority. Other factor that I call attention is the great use too of bass, worked very well together with the chords sounds of synthesizers, unlike other bands that use the synthesizer to perform the bass, and the beautiful voice. I forget to say about the hometown of this band, from Ferrara, Italy; the same Italy that give to world great sounds like The Frozen Autumn, Chromagain, Weimar Gesang.
This album was one more association between Annalogue Records and Mannequin Records that reissued the Chromagain mini-lp with other tracks in the Any Colour We Liked. In this was reunited two cassette tapes released in '84 and '85, Sleeping City and The Big Trouble respectively, with 4 live tracks recorded at Arena Nuovo in '85, two of this is totally unknown: Black Widow and Nice Faces.
I enphasize here Sleeping City in which from the beggining we see the great use of alto sax, and the beautiful voice of Sussana Zaghi. Too Late To Love is perfect in all of the 6:01 minutes, a simple song but excellent. Sister Europe is a fucking great version of The Psychedelic Furs, they change the guitars to synthesizers, gave a new "face" to the bass and results in this perfect version. In the second cassette songs we can see a other sonority, more new wave and less of minimal, but leaving nothing to be desired too. There's no one to call attention about, all are worthy to be repeated several times in your mind. Sleeping City, Too Late To Love and Anger Inside appears in the '84 LP compilation "A White Chance"; Loneliness appears in "Danza Meccanica - Italian Synth Wave 1982-1987" compilation. The band keeps the great work in nowadays. Just enjoy this lost sound from 80s.
Mais uma daquelas bandas que só lançaram um único material. E mais uma vez a Itália mostrando como se fazem bons sons. Temos um duo que transmitiu uma música na linha do minimal synth/minimal wave, e o faziam muito bem. Este curto EP foi lançado em '83 pela gravadora Electric Eye Records e, vejam só, há apenas alguns dias atrás (12/12/2013) foi relançado pelo selo americano Dark Entries. Buscavam um nome 'eletrônico' pra banda, daí surgiu Victrola e tevem seu primeiro lançamento com este nome na coletânea Gathered de '82 com "Into His Gloves" e em 2009 na coletânea Danza Meccanica com "The Mutant Glow" e "Behind The Door", ambas no arquivo. Quem gostar dos estilos citados, de certeza saberá apreciar essa banda.

>>> One more band that only released a single record. And one more time, Italy showing how to make good sounds. This duo transmitted a minimal synth/minimal wave sound, and did it very well. This EP was released in '83 by Electric Eyes Records and just a few days ago (12/12/2013) was released by the american label Dark Entries. They were seeking for an "electronic" name for the band, and has born Victrola with your first release in a italian compilation (Gathered, 1982) with "Into His Gloves" and in 2009 the compilation Danza Meccanica with "The Mutant Glow" and "Behind The Door", both in archive. Those who like of the sounds quoted, certainly will appreciate this band.

de Columbus, Ohio. E mais uma das bandas que eu lamento por terem lançado
apenas um EP, e com apenas 4 músicas! Faziam um som na linha do new
wave/synthpop e foram bem populares na cena alternativa de Columbus durante a
época em que existiram. Tocavam em galerias de arte e outros locais ligados a
arte de alguma forma. Neste ano, através da parceria entre aMedical Records e o blogCrispy
Nuggets foi
lançado um LP contendo as faixas deste EP e outras que também foram gravadas na
época mas não foram lançadas. Em Outubro de 2012,Gerald F. Nelson morreu antes mesmo de ter sido
completada a produção deste LP.

one more band that I regret having released just one EP, and with only 4
tracks! They made a sound in the new wave/synthpop line and were popular in the
alternative scene from Columbus during the band's existence. They played in art
galleries and other art venues linked in some way. In this year, by a
partnership betweenMedical Records andCrispy Nuggetsblog was released a LP containing the EP
tracks and other that was recorded in same time but not released. October 2012,Gerald F. Nelson passed away even before the
production of LP has been complete.
Na Alemanha surgiu esta banda que produzia um som na linha do synthpop, mesclando com o minimal synth/wave, com influências do post-punk ("Travel", "Mysterious Eyes") e um baixo marcante. Se formou com membros das pequenas cidades próximas a Dortmund, na zona de Westfalia. "Wild World" é o hino da banda. As duas versões apresentadas nos dois EP's são ótimas, não consigo distinguir qual a melhor versão; a versão presente no "Remembering The Days" está mais para o lado minimal synth da coisa. A do segundo EP "A Thousand Faces" adere mais ao synthpop sem deixar de lado as raízes da primeira versão. "War" e "Don't Leave Me Drowning" são canções com uma melodia/letra mais sombrias. "Travel" junto a "Wild World" são as mais conhecidas. Neste segundo EP, a faixa título honra o posto que tomou; "A Thousand Faces (Night-Time)" é uma grande música com uma pegada minimalista e uma letra sobre o cotidiano noturno. No fim da carreira, juntou-se a banda um baterista que os acompanhou em alguns shows, entre eles um na Discothek Memphis de Dortmund, em 16 de Janeiro de '86, que eu postarei em breve. Aproveitem mais este ótimo som perdido dos 80s!

Was formed with member from little towns next to Dortmund, in the Westfalia zone. "Wild World" is the anthem of the band. Quando vi o nome Samedi pensei em alguma banda de som denso, pesado, etc., devido a ter associado o nome da banda com o Barão Samedi cultuado no Voodoo. Porém, bem pelo contrário, o som do Samedi é um synthpop/new wave bem animado, no melhor do estilo Pet Shop Boys, com sintetizadores percorrendo todos os trechos da música. A banda surgiu na cidade de Bollnäs na Suécia em 1983 com Mats Kjellberg, Per Norin, Kent Jonsson e Annika Engström, e teve vida durante os 80's.
Desde a sua formação foram saindo e entrando membros na banda. A formação resultante (Manne Kjellberg, Hans Kjellberg e Per Norin) foi a que obteve um relativo sucesso no fim da década de 80, gravou 3 singles 7" (ou 45 rpm) e o LP Doubts & Beliefs, que apresento-lhes hoje junto ao single Between Two Hearts 7". Destaco "In Our Time", "Above Me", "Strangers In The Night" e "Open Up". "Winter's Coming To Town" é uma canção mais lenta, com aqueles loops que ficam na mente que percorrem toda a música. E destaco também as duas músicas do single Between Two Hearts, que talvez sejam melhores do que todo o LP. :D

>>> When I read Samedi, I thought about a band with heavy or dense sound, 'cause I've associated the band name with Baron Samedi worshiped in the Voodoo. However, I was wrong, the Samedi's sound is a lively synthpop/new wave, in the Pet Shop Boys style, with synthesizers walking through all the song. The band emerged in Boolnäs, Sweden, in 1983 with Mats Kjellberg, Per Norin, Kent Jonsson and Annika Engström, and was active during the 80s.
Since your first line-up were leaving and entering some members. The last line-up (Manne Kjellberg, Hans Kjellberg and Per Norin) was that achieved a relative success in the late 80. They recorded 3 EP 7" and Doubts & Beliefs LP, that I present to you today united with the Between Two Hearts 7". I highlight "In Our Time", "Above Me", "Strangers In The Night" and "Open Up". "Winter's Coming To Town" is a slower song, but not for that reason cease to be a great music. And I point out too the two songs from Between Two Hearts single, that might be better than LP. :D
O W.A.T. (World According To) foi um trio Holandês da cidade de Eindhoven ativo durante a primeira metade da década de 80. Eles produziam um som na linha do synthpop com sequenciadores e teclados e, ainda com direito a guitarras e baixo, dando um brilho do pós punk na sonoridade, que davam uma vida a mais ao som da banda. Primeiramente, Ad van Meurs começou em uma banda de folk-rock para depois, com influências do movimento punk da época, formar uma banda também de punk, chamada Bleistift, juntamente com sua namorada, Ankie Keultjens. Em '83 se juntou a eles Frank van den Nieuwenhof e com ele, a formação estava completa. Começaram a tocar um som entre o synthpop e o cold wave, com influências do post-punk (em ascenção na época) e logo gravaram seu primeiro álbum, que na verdade foi um Mini-LP, contendo 6 músicas, que vos trago hoje: Defreeze.
Este album é simplesmente supremo. Mereceria está entre os mais 'mais' do synthpop. A banda em si também mereceria. Batidas progressivas, teclados hipnotizantes, algumas 'pitadas' da guitarra (com o 'slide ') e o baixo completando toda a sonoridade. Sem falar no doce vocal da Ankie. A faixa homônima ao álbum possui um teclado hipnotizante, assim como todas as faixas, porém, na Defreeze é mais; é realmente algo mais alucinógeno. Art Lovers é também uma das grandes do álbum, aquele slide no fim da música é algo que realmente te transporta a algo debilitante. Destaco ainda Vive La Vie, que foi uma das que mais escutei quando ouvi o som do W.A.T..
Em '85 o W.A.T. interrompeu as atividades devido ao nascimento do filho da Ankie. Assim, a banda se dissolveu por completo, o que foi uma pena. Ad van Meurs iniciou sua carreira solo como The Watchman (bandinha até boa por sinal!) tocando folk-rock e mais tarde sua esposa Ankie também entrou na banda.

Esta desconhecida banda de Utrecht, na Holanda, foi ativa entre 1983 e a primeira metade da década de '90, especificamente o ano de 1993. Eles faziam um som numa linhagem eletrônica, com influências do New Wave, a música alternativa e o Synthpop. Considero eles como uma banda Synthpop de ótima qualidade e ainda com vocais femininos (ponto a favor!), além de um som totalmente contagiante. :) Eles gravaram um LP homônimo em '86 pela Rosebud Records e em '91 um CD intitulado Contrast pelo selo Barooni Records. O LP de '86 é uma raridade hoje em dia, verdadeiro item de colecionador. Nesses tempos, foram fabricados mais algumas cópias do LP e distribuídas pelos membros da banda, que se esgotaram rapidamente. O tecladista Bert Van De Grift, participou ainda de outros projetos de eletro e techno e, em 2005, morreu aos 41 anos; a vocalista Nicolet Theunissen participou de outros projetos também na 'área eletrônica' (BiNT e Catharina 2.0). Sem dúvida alguma, mais uma banda injustiçada dos 80s de sonoridade forte e peculiar. Destaques para Ite Missa Est, The Experience Of Falling, Rain Disturbs e New Way Out. Ite Missa Est é grandiosa; digo, toda aquelas programações do início que vão se misturando dando uma forma um tanto quanto psicodélica a música, e por fim a belíssima voz etérea da Nicolet. Sem mais rodeios, deliciem este som perdido dos memoráveis anos '80.

They made a eletro sound, with new wave, alternative and synthpop inlfuences. O Marcie's Still Waiting é uma banda da cidade de Velbert-Langenberg (Alemanha) que produzia um som no estilo Darkwave/Synthpop/Minimal Synth. Surgiram como um projeto do estúdio Mollycat-Tonstudio do Rainer Winschermann. Todas as canções foram compostas por Rainer Spachmann (vocal, guitarras e teclados) e Rainer Winschermann (saxofone, bateria). Quando foram gravar A Mysterious Song e For You (Not For You), convocaram o tecladista e compostitor Frank Behnke, Thomas Döbber para o baixo e Anne Webber para os backing vocals.
Em '85, gravaram o primeiro EP distribuido pela Mollycat através da gravadora Wishbone Records com uma capa mostrando um urso com um pequeno tambor de brinquedo. Alan Bangs ouviu o EP e gostou tanto que começou a tocá-lo quase todos os dias no seu programa de rádio (Natchrock). Aos poucos a banda foi conseguindo força e, em breve, poderia se escutar A Mysterious Song em todas as discotecas de nome da Europa. A capa então foi substituída por uma outra, onde mostrava uma mulher sob uma lâmpada. Em '86, gravaram um outro EP intitulado Mirrors And Daydream (tentem ouvir Magic Carpet e não se viciar nesse som) com uma sonoridade mais darkwave/synthpop, diferente do primeiro EP que traz um minimal wave/minimal synth de qualidade.
Quando eu estava rodando pelos becos obscuros da internet, achei um outro EP/LP com o título de Marcie's Project. Já deste, não tenho informações.
A Marcie's Still Waiting é uma banda totalmente desconhecida, porém, com um ótimo som. Nunca me canso de escutar estes EP's, pelo contrário, uma das poucas bandas que escuto o mesmo álbum repetidamente. Aconselho a todos que gostam dos gêneros citados. Devo destacar aqui a já falada A Mysterious Song e Unique World (esta última ficou na minha cabeça por um loongo tempo...). Magic Carpet é uma canção que lhe manda diretamente às discotecas dos 80s. Apenas apreciem este som.

In '85 recorded the first EP distributed by Mollycat through the Wishbone Records label with a cover that showed a bear with a toy drum. Alan Bangs listened to the EP and liked so much that started to play in his radio show (Natchrock). The band was gaining strenght, and soon, could hear to A Mysterious Song in all important nightclubs in Europe. The cover of EP was changed during this period. In '86 they recorded another EP named Mirrors And Daydream (try to listening to Magic Carpet and don't get hooked) with a darkwave/synthpop sonority, different of the minimal wave/minimal synth of the first EP. When I was searching for sounds in the shady alleys of internet, I found another EP (or LP) named Marcie's Project. I have no information about this.
Marcie's Still Waiting is a unknown band with a great/wonderful/amazing sound. I never get tired to listening to this EP's, by contrast, is one of the few bands that I listen to the album again and again. I advise to everyone who love the genres mentioned. I should point out the aforementioned A Mysterious Song and Unique World (this last one stayed in my mind for a looong time...). Magic Carpet sends you directly to the 80s. Just enjoy this sound.
