Enjoy it!

>>> Well, it’s been a long time that I’ve want to post this album which in my simple opinion, it’s a work of art that reachs from post-punk to coldwave. A quality gothic rock and I have no fear in say this: the best album of Killing Joke. In this album, we can hear keyboards that sometimes remind us of an ethereal sound as we can hear in Wintergardens and A Southern Sky, simple but harmonic guitars, with soft and distressing distortions at the same time; a funk line bass like in Love Of The Masses, which was the first song that called me attention with the bass line at the beggining of the song. Then it was the turn of Chessboards and Wintergardens. The drum equalization is really something that attracts me along with the unmistakable post-punk beat from their early albums. Should I point out Jaz Coleman’s voice? At Rubicon you almost see him at the stage in action through all the ecstasy that song gifts you. The same for Twilight Of The Mortal and Chessboards, which opened most of the shows from this disc tour. Who already saw him at the stage in action, it’s almost impossible not to associate the first notes of this song with the blend of anger/rage, euphory and psychopatic smiles features while he jumps and calls the audience to take part in that mix of emotions that was saw at the stage. This disc have cass and CD versions with 3 bonus songs but it’s the LP version I bring you today. Enjoy it!

>>>I discover the Cold Comfort together with Crystal Night already posted here. This sound comes from the town of Rivne, Ukraine, and it is a minimalist post punk of extreme quality, with simple and harrowing guitars (that Joy Division’s distortions) and a bass, as I usually say: dry. Outstanding. Without many effects. Just the notes being performed with maestry and a post punk step. Talking about outstanding bass, I shall point out the homonymous title track of this second EP, which represents as well as previous words. Here And Now and Bleached Bones are agitated songs, that awakens the euphoria and exaltation of don’t keep calm. To The Vacation Shores is a darkwave song where we can see the description of simple and harrowing guitars.
The band released a cass EP titled Modern Crypts in 2013, that it’s not even understimated in relation to this, with a heavy sound that makes me remember the LA deathrock bands. No more words, enjoy this sound.
e Things We Never Did.
mente quando lembrava da banda (a capa do best of E-mail From Eternity) e então achei o Feeding The Flame.
Big Tracks Little Tracks e Man of Straw (que está neste disco em
Close To The Sea é outra canção de
Sad Lovers & Giants: Simon "Garce" Allard (vocais) Tristan Garel-Funk (guitarras, percussões, backing vocal) Cliff Silver (baixo e teclados) David Wood (teclados e saxofone) Nigel Pollard (bateria e percussões) Sad Lovers & Giants - Feeding The Flame CD (1988)
01 - Imagination 02 - Cow Boys 03 - 3 Lines 04 - Big Tracks Little Tracks 05 - On Another Day 06 - Sleep (Is For Everyone) 07 - Vendetta 08 - Man Of Straw 09 - Close To The Sea 10 - Strange Orchard 11 - Burning Beaches 12 - Your Skin And Mine 13 - In Flux >>> This is one of the bands that
I have met randomly in the internet. Wandering from blog to blog, I always saw
some posts about the sound references and influences of other bands based in Sad Lovers & Giants. So one day, I
saw in the YouTube similar videos the band that I saw sometime in the obscure
alleys from the internet and so, I met Imagination
and Things We Never Did. I remember
thinking “omg, what na amazing guitar” or something and the sax solo that
stayed in my mind for a while, and I’ll search for the Imagination’s album. I searched for an image of a “man screaming”
that came’s to my mind when I think about the band (the front of the best of E-mail From Eternity) and I found the Feeding The Flame. I shoud tell you that
I was really impressed with the band’s sound. The guitars in particular, the great
arpeggios that echo throughout the songs (I don’t want to belittle the other
instruments but the guitar is something that really hold you attention :] ). I
point out here Cowboys, Big Tracks Little Tracks and Man of Straw (include in this album in
the 12” single version) in addition to the aforementioned Imagination; both with featuring the guitar riffs. Some songs have
a peculiarity with the keyboards, like Vendetta
that have a long (and harmonious) keyboard solo that drives your mind to far
places. Close To The Sea is one of
the extra songs of this album (but could perfectly fits to the original 83's version) taken from the 12" Man Of Straw, harmonious and definitely a song that provides a calm to who's listen to; point out to the guitars 3 Lines was recorded live in ’83 (thanks
to Discogs!) and takes the same sound of the original LP. What call me so much
attention was the way that the guitar sound in this “post-punk wave”. Just
enjoy this sound.
Over The Wall! Hand in hand! Over The Wall! Watch us fall!

>>> Before start this series of posts, I will tell a story. Since I was child when I heard the shows and thought about how would be going in this show, I dreamed of a time machine (lol) to get back in the past so I could watch it. I created a kind of 'top shows' in my troubled mind with this thought: "The shows that I'd wish to be there."
When we talk about the english post punk, Echo & The Bunnymen may be one of the best known bands from the 80s. II usually say I know the most obscure bands from the 80s but not the most famous. They are an example. I listened to their songs in mid-2012 or 2013 (I’m not sure about the date) when I had the great idea of buy the Live In Liverpool CD at a cd/lp store. I still resisted in listen to it but when I heard, WHAT A F*&#*@#$&! SOUND!!! Since this, this album is an indispensable item for my travels and became one in my top 3 'travel albums'. Rescue open the disc with that simple but memorable guitar and made me get my guitar at home to search the notes. Lips Like Sugar fits with the previous just as King Of Kings (another song that made me search for the notes); this last one is the open song from the new album of the new album from 2001, Flowers. I'm suspect to talk of Never Stop 'cause the first time I listen was here in this album and I have to say that is so better than the 80s live versions; I say, I think those 'shouting' at the chorus are not lacking. Seven Seas and The Killing Moon were songs I already met before, in the gigs and parties and this live versions are just great. I have not enough words to describe Buried Alive; no, it's not a marvelous song but have something in particular, something melancholic but at the same time fits with the atmosphere of the show. By the way, this song sequence which this song gives opening have all the same characteristics: melancholics but cheerful (lol). Supermellow Man is another handpicked song from Flowers and put in the right place. I cost to sympathize with My Kingdom but got there. I asked for myself what All My Colours doing right here in the setlist. I concluded that every show should have a break to take off again and, this is what happening in the next songs. All That Jazz, An Eternity Turns and The Back Of Love couldn't be in a better place in the setlist; An Eternity Turns sounds like a rockabilly or a 60s rock'n'roll and The Back Of Love with no tribal beats from the original version, more simple but still cool. I said some words about travel listen to this disc; hear this 3 songs in the road and you will got what I want to mean. The Cutter was another song I cost to sympathize but became one of the better versions from this show for me. Over The Wall! Hand in hand! Over The Wall! Watch us fall! This song have an atmosphere I can't describe well with words. The mixing of sounds, the bass line, the guitar notes of Will Sergeant that drunk your ears and run through the music creating an unique atmosphere for this song. Watch it, you will see this atmosphere that I mean at the audience. Nothing Lasts Forever and Ocean Rain sounds like a encore break and definitelly Ocean Rain leaves a spice of want more, like the show was take off again.
After a while I found this full movie show in YouTube and stopped everything I was doing to watch it, but nothing compares to being there. I've talked about the atmosphere of the show, about how you feel when listen to the songs and imagine yourself in the middle of all those people. This atmosphere made this show become one of the shows that I'd wish to be there. The full version have more songs, this is a version from Brazil. Enjoy the sound.
Jogávamos eu, meu irmão e outro amigo nosso aquele jogo de dança (lol) Dance Dance Revolution e abrimos Video Killed The Radio Star pra jogar. Ouçam os teclados/sintetizadores de Living In The Plastic Age; Clean, Clean e Elstree.

>>> The first time I’ve listened to this band it was in mid-2005 or 2006. Me, my brother and other friend were playing a dance game (lol) called Dance Dance Revolution and we unlock Video Killed The Radio Star for play. I’ve thought “what a cool sound”. So I searched for it on the internet and found this today’s album, The Age Of Plastic. I once read in a lost blog from net, that the synthpop owed so much to these guys. I didn’t understand immediately but later it came to my mind. Listen to the keyboard and synthesizers of Living In The Plastic Age; Clean, Clean and Elstree. No, it don’t look like a synthpop keys. But the way they express the musical notes show, with no doubt, the majesty of a synthesizer in the late 70. Of course that before them the Kraftwerk had already shown how to make a good synthsound; but they didn’t use as Trevor Horn and Geoff Downess. Going back to the ‘express’ thing and, analyzing the fact of the synthpop owed much to The Buggles, I think that this “owe” looks like more a influence; something like show that synthesizers are not to make just strings, organs and accordions to fill the music, it’s to make a complex melody mixing with a great a wide variety of sounds. Their greatest success was the aforementioned Video Killer The Radio Star. Note: the fact that this song was the first to be shown on MTV in the USA, helped them. There’s who says that was a one-hit wonder band but this first album have amazing songs; no, it was not a one-hit wonder band. This album is one that all the fans of the 80s should hear. The Discogs show 53 versions for this album (I wonder that this can show the mastery of it) and this CD version was released in 2000 with the added of 3 great songs released in the singles of this disc. The second disc was not so successful and led to the end of the band. Trevor still recorded an album with Yes called Drama. Since ‘98 they gather to some live performances and according to band Wiki “Horn and Downess re-united in studio in early 2016 for more Buggles activity”. Enjoy this great sound.
